What this site is, and how it works
Chess is well covered already. What's harder to find is the second read: the piece that tells you why a result matters, what it echoes, or where the money actually went.
That's what this site is for. When something happens in chess, we link you to whoever reported it first, then publish our own companion piece alongside it. A historical parallel, the economics, the reaction, or what the tournament numbers actually show. Never a reworded version of someone else's article. If you only want the news itself, follow the source link. It's on every page, twice.
How stories get picked
A handful a day, no more. We'd rather publish three things worth reading than everything that happened. Stories are chosen on how much there is genuinely new to say about them, and the ones we'd only be repeating get dropped.
Photos
Every photo comes from Wikimedia Commons under a licence that allows reuse, credited to the photographer, with a link back to the original file. We don't take images from the outlets we link to.
AI, and people
The Chess Herald's articles are AI-assisted and human-moderated. The judgement stays with people: what's worth covering, what gets published, and what gets fixed when it turns out to be wrong.
When we get it wrong
We will, eventually. Every article has a link at the foot for reporting an error, and it reaches a person. Corrections get made, not quietly buried.
