Ediz Gürel
A Turkish grandmaster, born in 2008, who completed the title by winning the Challengers at the 2024 Prague Chess Festival. That July he became Türkiye’s highest-ranked active player.
He scored 9/11 on board two at the 2024 Olympiad for individual bronze, and at the 2025 Grand Swiss, aged 16, beat reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju, jointly the youngest player ever to do so in classical chess.
