Volodar Murzin

The 2024 World Rapid Champion. Murzin won the title in New York aged 18, unbeaten on 10/13, with wins over Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa. Only Nodirbek Abdusattorov has won it younger.

Born in 2006 in Nizhny Tagil, he plays under the FIDE flag and became a grandmaster in 2022. At the same event he reached the knockout stage of the World Blitz Championship.
